Nita, the new Italian design brand has opened their permanent showroom during Milan Design Week 2019 with the inauguration of Omni, a multisensory exhibition-event inspired by interaction with nature. The immersive event investigates the intersection between man and nature through the furniture and lighting collections of Nita and the textile universe of the New York-based studio Eskayel, inspired by the four elements: earth, wind, fire and water.
Nita’s collection blurs industrial design with fine art by balancing primary shapes with pure materials that convey a series of considered ideas. From modular lamps, illuminated tubes to geometric tables, these sculptural objects assimilate the patterns, techniques and nuances that surround us. They also demonstrate an acute awareness of the importance of efficient and responsible use of materials and local production.
For Milan Design Week 2019, American curator Natalie Marie Gehrels founder of Studio Ouruse, investigates the intersection between man and nature through the furniture and lighting collections by Nita and textiles by Eskayel, presented inside an old spice warehouse in the up-and-coming Loreto district.
New York-based textile design studio Eskayel introduces the “Omaggio” collection, a collection inspired by a Tuscan-style garden in San Diego, owned by Founder Shanan Campanaro’s father. The design, originating from an original painting from Campanaro, is transcribed into a combination of velvet fabric woven tapestries, rugs and large scale wall murals. The organic designs comment on a cultural nostalgia that explores how one can grasp the American dream while remaining true to a rich Italian heritage through land.
