Australian product designer Sarah Ellison and London digital creative Charlotte Taylor have teamed up on ultimate bedroom dreamscapes as an antidote to the harsh reality of 2020. The creative campaign accompanies the launch of Sarah’s first bedframe ‘Yoko’ amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic.

When Sarah was unable to create the usual physical studio sets with her creative team due to pandemic lockdowns, she saw the perfect opportunity to build an original story to support her new product launch in an inventive way.

Ellison had been a long-time fan of Charlotte’s work and, as luck would have it, the feeling was mutual. The two creatives set to work on designing the ultimate dreamy bedroom escape, one that beautifully presented Sarah’s latest design, ‘Yoko’. Equally, this imagery acts as some much-needed creative escapism in the face of an uncertain global situation.

“As a designer, it’s fun to see other creatives interpret your work in their own way,” says Sarah. “I love Charlotte’s use of the digital medium to evoke emotion. Her use of light and shadow in her imagery combined with her eye for unique interiors made me excited to see where her mind would take my Yoko bed. The resulting imagery feels like the perfect marriage of our individual aesthetics.”

Charlotte is best known for her imaginative digital interior schemes via her Instagram channel as well as her creative partnership Maison De Sable with 3D artist Hannes Lipeprt. Her work has developed a near cult following of design buffs globally and successfully blurs the line between what’s real and what isn’t.

“Sarah’s designs have such a playful yet minimal elegance to them,” says Charlotte. “These are design touches I try to capture in my personal work so it was an absolute delight to create a space to house such beautiful furniture.”

Constructed from solid teak, ‘Yoko’ takes inspiration from Japanese minimalism with considered contemporary proportions and statement spherical feet. Charlotte’s vision was to take a warm monochromatic colour palette that has become synonymous with the Sarah Ellison brand implant the bed in a number of dream bedroom scenes. The resulting imagery is calming, inspiring and exactly what the world needs right now.

‘Yoko’ is available now via sarahellison.com.au.
