Studio Eagle was tasked with the design of the innovation lab and offices for KDC/ONE, a state-of-the-art research and development facility for cosmetics, located in Saddle Brook, New Jersey.
A space to call their own for product development before launch, and for clients and industry specialists alike to be welcomed into a unique experience, the groundbreaking KDC One Innovation Lab.
Collaborating with the talented leadership team at KDC One, this effort has been brought to life rooted in a desire for a sleek and modern innovative space that would encourage clients to take part in personal workshopping to curate KDC One products. The facility in Saddle Brook, NJ is a brand new, one of a kind workspace in the Northern New Jersey area the team now calls home.
The comprehensive project program includes feature areas such as the Museum / Formula Library, a showroom style gallery next to the reception, the Glam Bar presenting a nod to the salon experience as a designated place to test products, and the very lab itself. A design concept inspired by color, textures, and forms of cosmetics to celebrate the beauty of make-up and liquid skincare, there is a surreal emphasis on fluidity and movement throughout the space. Proving to be a successful compliment for the overall design concept, there is an aesthetic of bold and soft touches from the furniture and fixtures to the smallest of finishes. With interaction in mind, our designers developed an innovative experience that allows clients and customers to meet with the brand’s very own chemists on site to create and test their own mixes of products.
Peaking curiosity and inviting the visitor to move from one space to another, the “heart of the space”, the Collaborative Flex Zone, provides breathtaking views of the NYC skyline for the team to lounge and collaborate. The Open Work Area presents an opportunity for focus work with acoustic cloud compliments and adjacent private phone booths. Catering to various cosmetics, skincare, fragrance and body clients, the interior design provokes a sense of curated spaces unique to KDC One. From critical lighting consultancy to best display the product brands and the space overall, to the desire for open ceilings throughout the environment, no detail was left unturned in the design and build.
