Drinking coffee is a daily ritual in my city. I heard some tourists saying once as they walked trough the old part of Ljubljana: I cannot believe it, look at all those people in cafes! Is no one working? I laughed, I have never thought about it this way…. The reason of this image with a lot of people in café’s can occur because almost every café has its space in the front, on the street, a garden, a terrace or an open atrium. Most of the cafes are situated along River Ljubljanica and where the old city centre ends, there is café Rog.
The idea was to make a traditional café interpreted in contemporary way. Using wooden chairs, benches and soft leather backing is the traditional interior in Slovenian cafes. With ceramic pattern tiles on the floor, the presence of the city-house patio is highlighted and the memory of making Turkish coffee in copper djezva (pot for making coffee) comes alive again with Tom Dixon copper lights that hang over the tables. The name of the café comes from a famous bicycle factory Rog near the café, which will be torn down in the near future. The realization team,
