Emerging Australian furniture designer, Tom Skeehan has been successful in a number of local design awards both by being shortlisted and also as the prize winner. The list of prestigious awards includes Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards, Design Institute of Australia Graduate of the Year Award and Indesign’s Launch Pad. Skeehan Studio, established by Tom, specialises in commercial furniture and edition objects for the home. Finding inspiration around the notions of perception, connection and the value of ‘playing’ in the production of design for manufacture, Tom’s first range with Stylecraft is the Hoshi Lounge collection. Drawing from the influences of Japanese culture and design, the Hoshi range includes an Armchair, Lounge and Bench. Defined by the tubular profile of the timber frame and the leather strap detail to the rear of the lounge, the range may be specified in fabric or leather upholstery.
