Klaksvík Row Club
Situated within a picturesque fjord that shields from the Atlantic's harsh winds and grants views to neighboring islands, Klaksvík is the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands and home to 5,000 residents. In the last decade, The Faroe Islands' capital of fishery has embarked on a journey to establish itself. Henning Larsen has led the design of the dynamic urban plan allowing space for adaption over time, with the first buildings completed in 2018. The core of the plan centers on people, prioritizing pedestrian access and incorporating lively destinations such as a children's skating rink and row club adjacent to the central plaza.
The Klaksvík Row Club has emerged as a vital contribution to Klaksvík’s refreshed identity. Rowing, the national sport of the Faroe Islands, is a significant part of Faroese culture, with athletes dedicating considerable time and effort to year-round training and competitions against neighboring towns. Emergency Shelter
The emergency shelter built in Fazendinha Village located in the Calafate neighborhood in Belo Horizonte - Brazil, is the result of an academic project with an extensionist emphasis developed by the Department of Architecture and Urbanism of PUC Minas and coordinated by Professor Hugo Matos. The activity included the conception, fabrication, and assembly of a single-family dwelling, carried out jointly by students, professors, technicians, supporters, and community residents.
The choice of Vila Fazendinha was due to its proximity to the construction experimentation laboratory of the Architecture course at PUC Minas, the scale of the intervention, and the urgent need for dignified housing conditions for the community. The benefiting family consists of three women, Dona Maria and her two daughters, who were nominated by residents due to the precariousness of the housing they were living in.
The project was developed through workshops that aimed to integrate academic construction practice ...
Casa na Praia
Casa na Praia, a stunning testament to the harmonious collaboration between our architectural expertise and the client's visionary design sensibilities. With it's unique passive design strategies, every aspect of the architecture is geared towards minimizing environmental impact and maximizing energy efficiency.
At Casa na Praia, we have embraced eco-friendly and bioclimatic principles to create a residence that not only stands out aesthetically but also prioritizes sustainability and environmental responsibility. The architecture serves as a canvas for the client's interior design aspirations, resulting in a space that feels uniquely theirs.
One of the standout features of Casa na Praia is its use of thick thermal block walls. These walls not only provide structural integrity but also offer exceptional insulation, ensuring optimal thermal comfort throughout the year. Complementing this, the lime-based stucco adds a touch of Mediterranean charm, and outdoors you'll find a bioclimatic p ...
The butcher's flat
The interior of the apartment was influenced by both the investor and the location where it is located. The apartment is located in a functionalist building in a locality where butchers and sausage makers historically resided. The apartment is a purely men's affair, so we follow simplicity, quality materials and light austerity, which ensures a clean minimalist atmosphere with contrasts of quality materials and interesting geometric details. The interior is also conceived artistically, we follow the beautiful colorful modern paintings from the investor's collection into the interior with light colors, so that together they form a whole and complement each other harmoniously. We were inspired by butchers and charcuterie makers during the entire design process, which is why we named The butcher's flat

Jutaku-Inspired House: Blend of Two Residences
This project was inspired by the Japanese concept of nisetai jutaku — dual family homes that typically accommodate the senior generation and their children.
IDEOLOGIST aimed to merge two contemporary residences into a unified, functional space that facilitates both communal living and individual privacy. Mimicking the nisetai jutaku design, both homes maintain separate entrances, private bedrooms, and kitchens, while being connected by a large, central living or dining area. This layout promotes a lifestyle where residents can enjoy togetherness when desired and retreat to their personal spaces for privacy.
The project's design ethos was centered around natural light to create an inviting, adaptable environment that reflects the passage of time, echoing the transient yet timeless nature of Japanese architectural aesthetics. To achieve this, strategic elements such as a skylight gallery, transparent side roofing, and floor-to-ceiling windows were integrated. These details make the insid ...
LEARNING TO LET GO: Chonggu Experimental School
not factories
Public schools in Shanghai are conservative in their pedagogy and factory-like in their architecture. The new Chonggu Experimental School however provides the potential for a shift in pedagogy from the traditional disciplinary model to less formal, enquiry-based approaches. It also presents a paradigm shift in formal expression – a design shaped for joy, play and dreaming.
daydreaming
Inspired by the site’s canal and by the lyrical drawings of late architect, Zhang Zai Yuan, the formal language of the school is dream-like, another world, a world of innovation, creativity, and difference. The familiar school typology of slab with external corridor is increasingly distorted toward the school interior courtyard. Observed at first by a crank in the slab, then by a bent window, then by parabolic bay windows, and soon by lines of balconies vibrating with movement. As if reality has been shaken — like a rope held at one end, with waves of different sizes hurtling along its len ...
Reconstruction of family house in Sala
The story of the house began in 2018. The house is situated at the corner of a quite area of a well establish peripheral outskirt of a county town. We turned a standard cube-shaped house in original condition into a lively space for a young family.
The task was simple: creating common space to spent quality free time and at the same time clearly defined sleeping area of the house.
We added more light to the house and focused on the kitchen – living room – dining - garden area as the space where the family spends most of their time. Simple extension with living brings closely outside area to the house. The hight difference involved was considered as an opportunity to create a staircase-cross-relaxation area, where the staircase serve both as a storage as well as living space. And finally, a large kitchen stove was placed as the centrepiece of open plan area.
The entrance to the house welcomes guest through the transparent doors and look-through across the hall all the way up into the g ...
OPPO TOWER
Gianni Botsford Architects has completed the studio’s first project in China, The Technology and Research Centre for the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Oppo. Won in competition in 2014 in collaboration with Taiwanese practice RJWu & Partners, The Centre is housed in a 206 m tower positioned prominently within the new Singapore Sichuan Hi Tech Innovation Park to the South of Chengdu, the fourth largest city in China with a population of over 20 million.
The Oppo Tower plays an important urbanistic role within the Innovation Park masterplan. Its clear, vertical form rising through 42-storeys provides both a central focus and legibility to the surrounding low-rise buildings. The tower is punctuated with vertical recesses rising the height of the building. These break its large volume into smaller elements that, topped with triple-height “lantern” spaces appear to dissolve into the sky. The ethereal quality is also achieved through the dynamic and filigree effect of the pattern of t ...
Vertikal Nydalen
Vertikal Nydalen, has restaurants at street level, offices on the following five floors, and apartments on top.
To maintain certain sightlines and gain a lighter impression, the building is divided into two volumes of different heights, where only one part exploits the plot's maximum potential of 18 stories. Various pockets and passageways are created for the public on the ground floor around the building. At the same time, the design ensures good sunlight conditions and minimal wind in the new plaza.
'Triple-zero solution'
As a 'triple zero solution' building, no energy is purchased for heating, cooling, or ventilation. This is achieved using geothermal wells, PV panels, a low-exergy system for heating and cooling, and natural ventilation. The project has more than 50 percent overall reduction of CO2 emissions from materials, transport, and energy compared to a reference project.
Water from geo-wells in the ground circulates in the clay walls and concrete slabs when heating or cooling ...

SPATIAL SCALE
