LEA Apartment
The apartment dresses those who inhabit it. The young resident's main request for her first home was a clean apartment with soft tones, designed to accommodate a comfortable daily life.
Prioritizing the dining room on the balcony, the layout of the center of the social area is designed in an island style, with a partition for meal preparation, seating space at the counter, and accommodating the back of the living-room sofa.
The primary materiality explored in this project was ceramic, which, through its natural raw material and manual processes, envelops the resident in a welcoming atmosphere. It appears applied throughout the panel that divides the social area from the intimate one, and mimics the access doors to the bedroom, office, and powder room.
To contrast with the soft tones, the same terracotta-colored ceramic was chosen to demarcate the kitchen area in a box shape, already present in the property's layout. As it's a tone easily found in nature, despite its strength, it brings ...查看全文 -
Mountain Church of Julong
BACKGROUND: Julong is a new satellite town located 15km away from the 7-million-metropolis of Quanzhou. Since its opening the population has constantly grown, attracting professionals from all over the country. Today, Julong is also home to a small minority of Christian Protestants. For several years the community used to meet in a rented shop front. With services becoming crowded, they have decided to build a proper church for 1000 believers.
POTENTIALS & RISKS: Nestled at the foot of a mountain peak and surrounded by pristine forests, the acquired plot of land not only offers a breathtaking view, but gives the church the chance to develop into a landmark visible from the entire town. With 20 metres of height difference, however, a major challenge would be to ensure a convenient circulation and intelligent organization within the building, whilst minimizing environmental impact through earthworks and deforestation.
HOPES & CHALLENGES: The congregation´s expectations were manifold:

SPA Hotel Seegarten Sundern
Regional inspiration
When developing this project, the studio aisslinger team was inspired by the hotel‘s unique location - a kind of „oasis in the Sauerland“ - and the personality of Olaf Baumeister, the hotel‘s chef and owner. His close connection to regional suppliers and the care he takes in the production process have resulted in only local materials and manufacturers being used in the redesign. In the architectural and technical realisation of the concept, existing and new collaborations were started with companies that are exclusively from the surrounding area.
Sustainable materials
In all areas of the hotel, particular attention was given to the balance between open and communicative design and plenty of opportunities for retreat. The design and choice of materials reflect the natural atmosphere of the surroundings. Two material worlds were conceptualised as the main feature, which are based on the lake with gravel and the surrounding forest: Terrazzo and wood. These two mat ...查看全文 -
House in Pavilnys
House is located in the calm suburb which is embraced by nature, not very far away from Vilnius center. The owners contacted us with the request to transform the space into a bright, warm and easy-to-take-care home. The feeling we wanted to create in this space started to be clear right from the road to the site which went through the forest. Owners revealed they are big enthusiast of activities which includes the wind, also loves nature, quality materials and natural brightness. The direction of interior concept was settled.
At first we opened entrance area and installed high glass doors on both sides which let the daylight enter deeper in to the home. Then transformed space under stairs into secret wardrobe with minimal folding door. Tiny lines made in it allow daylight to come in to the darkest rooms.
To separated living area and personal spaces upstairs we used different type of flooring. Upstairs were installed natural warm oak floor and in the first floor concrete floor for easy-t ...查看全文 -

Canning Dock
National Museums Liverpool’s Waterfront Transformation Project has reached a significant new milestone, with Planning Permission granted to transform Canning Quaysides and Dry Docks into a space for education, contemplation and recreation.
The £15m redevelopment of Canning Quaysides and Dry Docks, which is supported by a £10m contribution from The Government’s £4.8bn round one ‘Levelling Up’ fund, will see the south dry dock, built in 1765, become accessible to the public. A new stop wall will be built behind the existing timber gates and a staircase and lift will enable visitors to descend into the historic site for the first time. Plans also feature a twin-lever footbridge from the Royal Albert Dock across to the Canning quayside.
The wider public realm will be enhanced with level pathways, an open-air events space, and significant improvements to the interpretation of items around the site.
Construction work on the designs, which are being led by architects, Asif Khan Studio, ...查看全文 -
Berkeley Residence
The renovation of a 1960s Berkeley home focused on a modern European style, prioritizing expansive views and spacious interiors within the original structure's footprint. The design highlights include elevated living areas with 14ft ceilings and a full-height sliding door to merge indoor and outdoor spaces, centering on views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. A deck extends towards these views for optimal outdoor enjoyment. The minimalist, white interior draws attention to the scenery, with a converted lower level into a master suite. The redesigned exterior features a landscaped yard with a lawn, fountain, and hot tub, all oriented towards the picturesque vista.

Twin Cubes & A Court
The challenge of designing twin houses in the proximity of a bustling highway translated into a program where a stark contemporary architectural language created the ideal shell for an interior, richly layered with handcrafted materials, bespoke furniture and curated elements.
The brief was to create two independent houses in a common plot located next to a busy highway. The corner site is flanked by service roads on two sides and an adjoining residence on the third.
Keeping the heavy traffic of the front main road in context, the plan was recessed deeper, than usual offset norms, into the site. The setback also serves as a driveway, shared by the two houses.
Given the shape of the plot, both residences follow a linear configuration with a landscaped spine clearly separating them. The spaces have largely been planned around greens to expand the inside-outside relationship. The issue of one of the houses overlooking primarily into the neighbouring property was resolved by planning it ...查看全文 -

Nuukullak 10 | 2023 | BIOSIS
Nuukullak 10 lies gently perched on the mountain ridge of Entreprenørdalen, a district in Nuuk that is currently undergoing a transformation from a former industrial area into an attractive new urban district. A climate-driven design approach. BIOSIS works from a climate-driven design approach which for Nuukullak 10 meant finding solutions that could break down the forceful northern winds and optimize the few daylight hours in winter.
Thorough studies of wind, flow, and daylight were applied to refine the design and increase the building's performance, and influence the livability of its residents during the entire design process. By creating an intimate scale of a low-rise building that orients according to the micro-climate, the architects created a building that improves the indoor and outdoor comfort for its residents. To provide the needed protection against the harsh northern winds, the building forms a distinctive horseshoe shape that envelopes the truncated triangle-shaped cour ...查看全文 -

House 14A | 2023 | pihlmann architects
Embodying a non-hierarchical collage of traces from changing times, House14a reflects the ongoing narrative of its evolution. Rather than presenting itself as a completed work, it embraces its role as a phase within an ongoing process. Each element, whether rough or refined, old or new, is equally valued, and gains relevance through processing, assembly, and the possibility of continuous adaptation.
Originally constructed in 1951, the single-family house epitomized the post-war residential style prevalent at the time. It appeared archetypically as a Danish house imagined: a two-story cubic box with evenly distributed windows, a red brick façade, and a gable roof. Despite its structural robustness, its adaptability to ever-changing ways of living and working was limited. By employing traditional architectural techniques like exposing, covering, cutting, joining, stacking, and casting, the inherent rigidity of the original composition is dissolved.
Emerging from functional necessity, thr ...查看全文 -
