South Korean architect/designers, Urbantainer, have a history of using unexpected objects to craft new and innovative spaces; and their latest work follows suit emphatically. Transforming a shipping container into a giant cardboard box – that recently sat outside Seoul’s Myeongdong Theatre – the studio created a unique showcase for the mobile app services of South Korean search engine, Naver. Putting a ‘real world’ edge onto digital services has rarely been so stylishly executed, with the cardboard theme running through into the interiors of the pop-up and attention to detail outside extending as far as a packing label, complete with QR code…
