青铜中国是一个作品系列,这里主要为大家展示其中的铜镜系列。
和中国传统的圆形铜镜不一样,这个系列的铜镜造型更为自由,一面是锃亮的铜镜,另外一面是一层层如同蜡液堆
叠的金属。 青铜制品是中国文明在古老的源头开出的一朵奇葩。如今中国的青铜制造业多是模仿与复制古代优秀艺术品,整个
行业不由让人惋惜。从英国皇家艺术学院毕业的台湾设计师曾熙凯(Poetic Lab)打破这一僵局,利用古老的传统
和技艺,做出不同的创造。这个项目的其它部分仍在继续中。 备注:这个产品中不仅运用到了青铜也运用到了铜和黄铜。这个镜子系列便是由黄铜制成。


Bronze China is a project cooperating with Chinese-craftsmen in Henan, China, and trying to bring them another
possible future. YanJian, a small village in Henan Province, more than 30% of people live there are involved into the same
business - copying and selling ancient bronzepieces. The pieces they made are used to be sold on the antique
markets or become the souvenir in the museums and shops. They changed their homes become workshops, build
traditional kilns and hire their families and friends. These people build many amazing replicas by limit resource
and tools. Also, this business keep young people staying in the village, instead of going to other big cities for
earning money to feed their families. Nowadays, more than 1100 people, two hundred companies are all doing this bronze replica business, but the
products they sell are almost the same, replicas. The "Bronze China" project is the first step of reconfigure this situation, and aim to bring new concepts to this
place -originality, creativity, honest and fair trading. In another words, to cooperate with the local craftsmen to
create new objects which could fit in our current society, with new form and new meaning. To communicate with local company and craftsmen, ShiKai Tseng stay in this village for 3 weeks, deeply
understand their process – soil sculpting, wax carving, mold making, lost wax casting, welding and antique
techniques. He creates “ Bronze Mirror is one of the collections. (Some other works are still in progress)


青铜中国是曾熙凯刚从皇家艺术学院毕业时,短期回到台北并参观故宫所得到的灵感。当时,创作者见到展览中详
细介绍的青铜器製作过程,以及将 『遵生八笺』中,彷製古青铜器的章节所製成的动画,便萌生将材料与製成导向
的设计创作与此材料结合的想法。随后的几个月,创作者开始寻找能提供传统青铜器製造工艺的合作厂家,最后发现了
河南省烟涧村这个地方。 烟涧村製作青铜器的历史必须回溯到1980 年代初期,一位来自于中国农村的古董修复师 - 方兴庆,在将其所複製
的彷古青铜器带往香港的路上,因涉嫌走私文物而受到全国的关注。在釐清真相后,烟涧村开始声名大噪,并成为
中国有名的彷古青铜器製造村。村中目前有超过三分之一、1100 位村民、200 家公司都在从事青铜器的彷造工作。
创作者在了解过村子发展背景,以及几经网路书信与当地厂家联络后,便于 2012 年 2 月前往当地驻村一个月,
进一步的了解当地的文化以及工艺。在与当地交流后发现,当地所生产的产品类别几乎都相同,在产品多样性上不
足,且销售管道重複,对村子的厂家是相当不利的商业条件。若能将现代设计与当地的製造工艺融合,製作出现代
生活也能使用的青铜器物件,不仅能为村子带来新的视野,也同时将青铜器这个材料带回到现代人的生活之中。 本系列作品皆是以蜡的特性作为造型的主要特徵在镜子与灯罩上使用蜡遇热变形、融化的特性,创造出多层次的造
型,并利用层次配合不同的表面处理,将烟涧厂家原有的技术,做出不一样的发挥。成品包括一系列的铜镜、饰盘
以及门档。本系列作品仍在进行中。


The ancient Chinese mirrors they copy usually are round and handy. One side is fully polished as mirror, and
another side is decorated by different beautiful carving and patterns. Here, the new mirror aims to show that the
nature property of the material also can be a way to shape the product, rather than always treat it as a carving
material.
It was inspired by the way the Chinese-craftsmen making their own wax board. I pour the wax on the stone board,
layers by layers. It becomes a painting, drawing by my movement, temperature of wax, tension and gravity. It
presents the property of wax, and the beauty of patina on bronze. ps. although the project is called "Bronze China", but the craftsmen nowadays not only cast pieces by bronze, but
also copper and brass, thus this mirror series is made of brass. 青铜中国 Bronze China
