Stockholm-based architecture studio Arrhov Frick Arkitektkontor has designed this elegant and serene private residence in a forested area near Stockholm, Sweden. Hidden amongst the pine trees and rocky landscape of Nacka, the Six Walls House has been designed in such a way as to make the most out of its location’s generous views over the sea and surrounding nature. The house’s name is derived from its most prominent design characteristic, namely the six 5-meter-high parallel walls that form its structure and separate the different rooms and living areas. Following a design approach that favours minimal embellishment and simple geometry, the architects have created a living space that is all about calmness and privacy where wooden panels are seen covering the ceilings and gauzy curtains filtering the light. A spiral staircase right in the house’s middle leads to to the mezzanine level and from there to a secluded roof terrace, where one can relax high up amongst the evergreen tree tops.
