Our staff get to know the houses we sell with intimate detail. To tap into that knowledge, were asking them to share their favourite homes from our sales roster. Here, our Head of Sales, Georgia Grunfeld, tells us about five contemporary country houses that are currently on the market.

The Pavilion House, Reydon, Suffolk
This Case Study-like house is a calming Nordic retreat, designed by Danish practice Norm Architects. Its quite an unexpected addition to the Suffolk countryside, and I love that its at once both rural and yet just a short drive away from Southwold and other coastal towns.

Wootton Rivers, Marlborough, Wiltshire
This house follows the footprint of its original barn and retains its timber beams and pitched roof. The owner has lovingly built the whole house himself with lots of unusual elements such as the concrete kitchen, which was dyed black and cast specifically for the space. The result is a contemporary living space with the character of a former agricultural building.

Bressingham II, Norfolk
This house is another one of Nest Developments triumphs. Taking inspiration from the local vernacular, the house is built to be like its neighbouring corrugated black metal barns.

Its simple design celebrates the volume of the space, and incorporates large picture windows that frame its private moat, large garden and fields beyond.

Eashing House, Godalming, Surrey
I think this is interesting in a number of ways. One, its mostly on one level, which gives you access to the outside from all the rooms. Two, the roofline is unconventional, giving a unique, sculptural silhouette. This is heightened by the cladding, which wraps the house in stainless steel.

Assington, Suffolk
I love this house because it celebrates the original barn but offers functional, modern living. It conserves the beams, existing bricks and even some of the barn doors, but modernises the space with plywood boxes housing the services, kitchen and storage.
