Inside Studio has created the office design for women’s fashion company, Tribal, located in Montreal, Canada.
What the warehouse offered were 18-foot ceilings, garage doors and a raised loading dock. The approach of the design team was guided by the idea of achieving maximum effect with minimal intervention to respect the raw simplicity of the space.
To accentuate the height, 2 long linear skylights were installed along the length of the warehouse with the workstations aligned in unison, guiding the eye to large windows that replaced the garage doors. The few closed offices were grouped together in a centralized glass volume, nestled between the skylights, so as not to obstruct the views and alignment of the workstations.
The elevated loading dock was transformed into an inviting cafeteria overseeing the work area below and separated from the working area by a long sculptural gypsum wall. This wall was an economical and simplified solution for the required 140 linear feet of guardrail required. Colourful lanterns and vibrant furniture add an additional contrasting vibe to the social spaces.
The design rooms have been designated as ” creative playgrounds “. This concept was enhanced by the installation of fences surrounding the rooms that also serve as supports for displaying new products. Wooden clothes rack modules, designed to store and hang samples, serve to create divisions between the work groups while injecting warmth within the white neutral space.
