OFFCON designed a new office space specifically for the HILTI development team, which is supervised directly from the headquarters in Schaan, Liechtenstein.
The existing space is a warehouse built of structural steel and curtain wall from sandwich-structured composite. The existing elongated interior space with no columns and a good height allowed architects to put a mezzanine with additional meeting rooms. There’s also a large conference room under the mezzanine, which can be transformed into two smaller meeting rooms.
To ensure a sufficient amount of natural light, architects decided to add some windows that the building lacked since it was used just for storage. Workstations were placed along the glazed façade. There are also various collaboration areas, hot desks, lounge areas and several transformable meeting rooms a little further away from the façade. These meeting rooms are equipped with their own engineering systems, adjustable lighting and acoustics. One part of the office adjoins the existing storage space. Panoramic windows in this part of the wall allow HILTI employees observe storage operations.
Consistent with HILTI Moscow headquarters that was also designed by OFFCON, workstations in this office are all height-adjustable, which contributes to employees’ greater health and better posture. Another feature that keeps HILTI employees healthy is the gym located on the floor below. Employees have unlimited access to it, as well as the opportunity to exercise with a trainer.
All support spaces, as well as coffee points and print zones are evenly dispersed throughout the office for everyone’s convenience.
When designing the mezzanine, stairs and movable partitions, special structure reinforcement and load capacity projects were executed. Surveys measuring possible levels of noise and vibration from the operating storage also took place.
