Arquea Arquitetos balanced traditional and contemporary for the law offices of VLM|a located in Curitiba, Brazil. The office is divided into two floors of a corporate building, occupying 520.0m². The proposal was to distribute the living and rest areas on the ground floor. At the same time, on the upper level are the work and meeting areas. The project aimed to seek a balance between traditional and contemporary, where beauty is precisely in this duality. Thus, in a set between rustic and well-finished elements, the project was conceived. The cement floor, the exposed slab, and the suspended cable trays coexist in harmony with natural wood paneling, glass, and white marble countertop. People work in an open space, among masses of vegetation. The glass partitions of the individual rooms have an essential detail, the small glass plan, among them, which conveys the sensation of continuity of light and intended spatial freedom. Light and dark, rustic and well finished, tradition and invention, natural and artificial. Making architecture is playing with opposites.
