Milan based agency MM Company unveils “Prospettive fantastiche” (Fantastic perspectives), a capsule collection of four rugs for Matteo Pala. The design duo, Manuel Barbieri and Marco Magalini, drew inspiration from two-dimensional pencil sketches made by architects while noting down design ideas born during a phone call.
Arcadia, Volumia, Elisia and Triplia are the names of the 4 designs – compositions of “fantastic” geometric volumes, built from perspective projections that can be perfectly observed from any vantage point.
The rugs are the result of a combination of overarching creativity, understanding of fine materials and artisanal know-how. Each piece was designed in MM Company’s Milan office, then entirely hand-knotted by expert Indian craftsmen who follow ancient techniques and use the finest quality materials such as New Zealand wool and silk. The end result is presented in Matteo Pala’s showroom in Vicenza.
The Prospettive fantastiche collection is available in a sophisticated colour palette enriched by a materiality expressed through different pile heights that to accentuate the vanishing lines and the sense of depth of the design intent. The result is a synthetic and rationalist composition, made up of independent elements, but concatenated by a single graphic sign.
