M Moser Associates communicated growth, connection, love and safety in Red Star Macalline’s headquarters, a Chinese furniture company located in Shanghai, China.
With a vision to become a globally recognized trademark supporting values of growth, connection, love and safety, Chinese furniture and home furnishing retailer Red Star Macalline relocated its 31,000 sqm headquarters to Hongqiao Central Business District, a strategic development zone in the Yangtze River Delta.
Addressing Red Star Macalline’s mission to “safeguard sustainability in every home environment”, an interior structure resembling a birdcage has been constructed in the South Building lobby. At 16 meters tall and nine meters wide, the structure evokes the spirit of a home while providing a new interactive path to connect people. A spiral staircase at the core connects the first and third floors, enhancing connectivity and walkability within the elevated lobby.
More than just a brand hub, this transformative headquarters is also a catalyst for innovation and business growth. Pre-design workplace strategy studies inspired a variety of layouts on each floor to fulfill different departmental needs, providing an uplifting workplace experience enhanced by vertical connectivity and flexible working arrangements. Conference rooms of various sizes have been planned throughout Level 3 of both the North and South buildings, equipped with smart meeting systems to improve efficiency.
A reading area, sleeping rooms, fitness facilities, and biophilia components create a sense of calm and rejuvenation to support staff wellbeing. The canteen features bold colors and shapes to create an engaging, fun experience, connected to outside greenery to boost wellbeing.
