- Zoom Video Communications Inc., the global leader in video-first communications, has created a cutting-edge London office in partnership with workplace design and build leader Unispace and experience design agency Downstream. This innovative new space, integrating Zoom’s industry-leading technology, will serve its UK employees and visitors, while setting a new standard for today’s hybrid workspaces.
- A next-generation Executive Briefing Centre and hybrid workspace
- Located on the sixth floor of MidCity Place, the 18,000-square-foot space is meticulously designed for a dual purpose – to bring the Zoom brand and platforms to life for clients and to empower in-person, hybrid, and remote teams. The space features a pioneering Experience Centre and Engagement Hub, seamlessly integrating remote and office workers while showcasing Zoom’s latest technology and product solutions.
- The space is divided into two distinct areas: A pioneering Experience Centre (EC) that offers an interactive and immersive brand experience for clients, while the Engagement Hub demonstrates Zoom’s commitment to flexible working with a variety of space types and layouts for its employees.
- “Zoom’s office in London is a ‘best in class’ example of how to create an environment that drives business impact,” said Antonia Walmsley, Head of Design & Strategy, EMEA at Unispace. It was gratifying to co-create a space with our experience agency Downstream for a client like Zoom that so directly facilitates both customer acquisition and employee engagement,” she added.
- An Experience Centre providing robust and innovative solutions to customers
- The layout of the new EC is anchored around the Lens Wall. Featuring large-scale digital LED media wall sections wrapping the entire space, it connects the EC and the Engagement Hub with a flow of media. This digital canvas acts as a portal, offering visitors an immersive experience through various virtual environments, scenes, settings, and atmospheres.
- The wall is diffused with dark fabric material to create an ambient mood, supported by digital art and displayed through a series of slow-moving, scene-setting content, evoking a sense of excitement and wonder for what’s to come.
- At the core of Zoom’s Experience Centre lies the Discovery Showcase. This space is the centrepiece of every guest’s journey, where Zoom experts can provide immersive and hands-on demonstrations designed to inspire, inform, and educate.
- A groundbreaking 50-foot wide LED film wraps around the outside of one-half of the curved glass wall, framing the illuminated Zoom logo with themed motion content for a dramatic entrance. Inside the Showcase, two 33-foot-wide curved, super-fine resolution LED displays face each other, offering an almost 360-degree immersive storytelling experience. Touch sensors have been added discreetly in custom-made frames, making these spectacular systems a one-of-a-kind curved multi-touch LED walls.
- In the centre of the room, a customised circular touch table allows users to control assets and AV systems through a sleek and intuitive interface.
- Zoom’s state-of-the-art executive boardroom is designed for employees and visitors seeking the ultimate boardroom experience and showcases next-generation Zoom technologies.
- The boardroom accommodates 18 people and features a floor-to-ceiling 8K LED screen. The latest camera and audio systems are integrated flawlessly into beautifully detailed timber-clad acoustic walls and a pixelated custom-feature ceiling.
- The Engagement Hub caters to various workstyles with community, hybrid collaboration, and focus zones. The floor is divided into three zones:
- Community zone: This is the most dynamic and adaptable area at the core of the floor. It incorporates various options for in-person collaboration and employee interaction, including a lounge, games corner, wellness room, and multi-function space for events, training, demonstrations, and seminars. It can be easily reconfigured to provide open collaboration spaces or casual-focus work areas.
- Hybrid collaboration zone: A selection of tech-enabled Zoom Rooms designed to enhance face-to-face and hybrid meetings. The community and hybrid collaboration zones are designed to facilitate and encourage social interactions.
- Focus zone: Located at the edge of the floor, this area offers a quiet space with options to minimise auditory and visual distractions. It includes an open workspace with desks, phone rooms, and booths for privacy and concentration.
- These areas offer dynamic and adaptable environments for in-person collaboration, hybrid meetings, and focused work, ensuring a seamless hybrid experience for Zoom’s rapidly growing workforce.
- Amplifying impact with care
- Zoom is committed to the wellbeing of its employees, customers, and community, aiming for lasting impact. This is reflected in the design of its London office, which has earned LEED Gold certification, demonstrating a strong focus on sustainability, resource efficiency, and healthier indoor spaces. In alignment with its core values, Zoom incorporated a sustainable tapestry through Unispace’s Art for Impact program. Art for Impact allows global brands to showcase their company values and commitments in a unique way while creating environments where everyone belongs. In partnership with NGO Casa Congo and Las Tejedoras ‘The Weavers’ – a collective of 17 Nicaraguan women – this tapestry brings sustainability into the workplace through art, repurposing ocean plastic bags into purposeful artworks.
- Within Zoom’s new office, a bespoke tapestry designed by Unispace and woven by Las Tejedoras from 3,500 recycled plastic bags serves as a powerful symbol, inspiring both individual and corporate action in environmental conservation and social impact. The program leverages art as a catalyst for social change by connecting businesses with community partners and diverse artists. Watch the video here.
