CLT Forest HouseThe project site is a plot of pine forest with a pronounced terrain and an elevation difference of 17 meters. Despite all the associated challenges, the main principle in placing the house on the site was the careful preservation of the existing natural landscape. The retreat house is divided into three volumes connected by glazed galleries, gently weaving around all major trees and creating the atmosphere of a small village designed in a unified architectural style. The central volume is the main one—a single-story structure intended for shared use. Floor-to-ceiling glazing opens up views from the lounge area, kitchen, and dining room to the surrounding pine forest and lake. As residents move through the glass galleries, they experience a continuous visual connection to the forest, while the side blocks offer a sense of privacy and seclusion. The southern block is two stories high and includes guest rooms and relaxation areas. Its two-story panoramic glazing and cubic form create a distinctive futuristic architecture while maintaining harmony with nature. The northern block is a single-story guest house designed for temporary stays. It features a study with a workspace partially oriented toward the main block, and the guest room, with a slanted corner, opens up to a cozy view of the forest.
Charred dark wood was chosen as the primary facade finish, yet each block has its own unique material expression. This approach is reinforced by varying glazing solutions, creating the feeling of a small private settlement where each house serves a distinct function.Structurally, the house rests on a reinforced concrete slab supported by bored piles and a steel frame, minimizing the need for earthworks. Above the slab, the entire structure is made of CLT panels, which ensure a minimal carbon footprint and a precise, efficient construction process.
