The project embodies Holzrausch Studio's distinctive approach – one born from the practice's origins as a modest wood workshop before expanding into interior design. The firm now operates both workshop and design studio under one roof, integrating fabrication and conception within an exceptionally short distance. This proximity allows the practice to function simultaneously as interior designers, interior architects, and master carpenters, bringing a material precision to every aspect of their work.
Craftsmen and specialists were drawn from across Europe to realise the project: plasterwork arrived from Italy, whilst substantial oak floors and lighting were sourced from Denmark. These contributions form part of a broader philosophy that privileges simplicity, minimalism, and timelessness over momentary appeal. The practice's name expresses a fascination with materials, wood among them but not exclusively, and this sensibility permeates every surface and threshold.
In the heart of Paris, LOUI stands as a domestic refuge. Reduced to its essential character, the residence operates as a tribute to woodworking craft and spatial clarity. Sheltered from the intensity of urban life, it is a place for family gathering – where material honesty, light, and restraint converge through unwavering intent.
