Hugo Toro conceived this restaurant on the Louis Vuitton rooftop at the Shinsegae building in Seoul as a fully immersive experience. Designed in collaboration with Maison Louis Vuitton, the space was custom-crafted to celebrate the convergence of the Maison’s savoir-faire with the architectural and traditional heritage of South Korea. The iconic codes of Louis Vuitton are reinterpreted here in a contemporary spatial language, offering visitors a subtle and refined journey.

JP at Louis Vuitton presents itself as a warm and enveloping environment, almost domestic in nature. The rooftop’s strong identity blends with a welcoming atmosphere, giving visitors a sense of feeling “at home” while inviting them to embark on a journey above Seoul. The restaurant is conceived as a sensory catharsis: from the entrance, a palette of warm colors engages in dialogue with the horizon and the city’s silvery sky, while the lighting evokes the warmth of a flame, and surfaces—particularly wood and the red plaster reminiscent of Épi leather—invite touch.

Situated in Gangnam, the space engages in a continuous dialogue with the city and its traditions, notably through the tapestries designed by Hugo Toro, crafted in jacquard using artisanal techniques, and through the meticulous ceiling patterning. The sequential circulation, reminiscent of a train’s compartments, fosters intimacy reinforced by arches and enclosed spaces, including a VIP room.

Every element was conceived entirely in the studio: furniture, lighting, tapestries, wall panels, and architectural details. Working with Louis Vuitton allowed the exploration of artisanal know-how, a deep understanding of materials, and the highlighting of craftsmanship. For Hugo Toro, this project demanded a more precise and exacting approach, pushing him to surpass his own limits and achieve the utmost refinement.
