Tumbled’s co-founder, Sarah Wiese – whose Adelaide-based business curates natural stone, porcelain and ceramic products imbued with story, texture and soul – discovered Castle Stones via a social media post. “At first I thought it was aged natural stone,” she recalls. “It immediately captured my attention.”Beautifully made and architecturally minded, Castle Stones’ bricks and stones are handmade reproductions of original antique marble and limestone tiles from historic Flemish, French and Italian villas, castles, monasteries and churches. Their high-performance composition is matched by a lightweight six-to-eight-millimetre thickness. “The stones are cast, pressed and then given their historic appearance through a unique post-processing technique,” explains company founder Maurits Simonette. “Because each tile is made and coloured by hand, every floor is completely unique.”
