A study in the enduring quality of brick and its diversity in application, Lucas uses a handmade clay brick as its primary architectural material, carried from exterior to interior to create a consistent and grounded expression.               
Deployed across multiple planes, walls, fascias and soffits, the use of brick establishes a continuous material language. Subtle shifts in bonding patterns differentiate each condition, offering definition and gravitas to individual elements while maintaining overall cohesion.

The plan is organised around a generous north facing kitchen, meals and living space at the rear, forming the primary gathering area of the home. This space opens directly to a covered outdoor living space, pool and lawn, extending the internal living environment into the garden.

Arrival is through a double height entry void, creating a sense of scale before the plan steps down toward the rear living spaces. Here, increased ceiling heights reinforce light, openness, and orientation. At the center of the plan, a custom timber staircase acts as both a spatial anchor and a crafted counterpoint to the solidity of the surrounding brickwork.

This considered approach to detail and planning has resulted in a home defined by a restrained material palette and a clear spatial sequence, giving the project a sense of permanence and restraint.
