During this year’s edition of 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, Belgiqa and Delta Light will present A Room Within, an immersive installation conceived by Nicolas Schuybroek Architects. Developed as part of Design/Dialogue by ARK JOURNAL, the installation explores the relationship between light, wood, rhythm and materiality through a restrained architectural language.
Presented at Den Frie Udstilling from June 10–12, the scenography exists between architecture, ritual and spatial composition. Conceived as a room within a room, the installation becomes a temporary environment in which physical experience takes precedence and where visitors are invited to slow down, move through space and engage with materiality in an intimate way.
The installation draws from the radical simplicity of minimalist art from the late 1960s and 1970s, not merely as a formal reference, but as an exploration of presence, repetition, scale and tactility. A series of vertical volumes structures the space as a rhythm of columns. Together, they form a silent choreography of sculptural elements that can be read as both functional and architectural. Rather than creating a closed structure, the installation unfolds as an open composition in which light, shadow, texture and movement continuously interact.
Within this temporary architecture, Belgiqa and Delta Light meet through a shared language of precision, materiality and silence. Wood and light are approached not as decorative elements, but as essential spatial components capable of shaping atmosphere, perception and experience.
The installation is executed in Superba T, the wood surface developed for the upcoming Belgiqa x Nicolas Schuybroek Signature Collection. Visitors to the installation will receive an exclusive first glimpse into the new collection, which will officially launch during 3daysofdesign.
By integrating architectural wood surfaces and carefully orchestrated lighting into one cohesive spatial experience, A Room Within reflects the shared sensibilities of Belgiqa, Delta Light and Nicolas Schuybroek Architects: refinement, restraint and timeless material expression.
