One Sydney Harbour | Arent&Pyke | 2026 | 澳大利亚

Designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Renzo Piano, in collaboration with Lendlease, we were invited to collaborate with State of Craft to furnish and curate art for the lower level social spaces of One Sydney Harbour. Located on the banks of the Barangaroo South precinct, the iconic waterfront setting includes three striking residential towers. Appealing comfort and tranquil elegance guided our design approach, providing aspirational extensions to the residents’ homes. Several commissioned pieces weave the maker’s touch throughout in addition to our curation of exclusively Australian artworks including contemporary sculptures, vibrant paintings and tactile wall pieces, some of which are site-specific.

We collaborated with Lendlease, Renzo Piano & State of Craft who designed the layered, rich base canvas of the communal area offered exclusively to the residents to settle in to work, gather, and unwind. Within the lobby, resident’s main lounge (the Orangery), plus billiards, private dining and wine room, we enhanced the travertine-clad walls, stripe-patterned stone floors and rattan-panelled ceilings with textural and tonal overlays to enrich social connections. In addition, we furnished the gymnasium plus the outdoor terraces and pool area, commissioning Dangar Barin Smith to provide verdant landscaping that includes potted trees sprouting indoors to enhance outdoor connections.

The light-filled Orangery located in the main tower acts as a second living room for residents. Beneath its textured ceiling, we created intimate lounge settings for residents to quietly review the morning news over coffee through to entertaining guests as an alternative space to their apartments. Amongst inviting cream seating, we sprinkled resonant shades of Barangaroo’s foreshore including rusts, rich browns and silvery blues.

Artworks provide saturations of colour and engaging tactility – from organic graphic canvases by George Hairbrush Tjungurrayi to an immersive aqua tapestry by Teelah George suspended from a golden branch. Others include ceramic pieces adding undulating folds upon a wall, plus a delicate arc of charred bamboo adorning another, like feathers.

Further speaking to a sense of place, we commissioned local makers to craft unique pieces. One includes a custom limestone console that sits upon pebble-like pedestal legs inspired by the sculpted sandstone formations that line the Barangaroo Reserve’s cove. Behind it, we collaborated with State of Craft and Manapan, an artistic collective on Milingimbi Island, Arnhem Land, to create a timber screen that cradles a woven grass textile with desert sunset hues. This community also crafted timber coffee tables designed by State of Craft. Their textural surfaces feature the collective’s signature pitted carving technique that captures sunlight beautifully.

Open timber shelves and tables display ceramics and objects, intimately layering the generously proportioned room and enhancing a sense of domestic cosiness. So detailed was our role that we also selected glassware and crockery through to a library of illustrative books dotted about the settings.
